Tom – 2IC and Child Safety Coordinator
Tom is not just a staff member at Pirates Rest; he is truly the lifeblood of our operation, bringing invaluable experience both on and off the ship. His genuine dedication to the youth extends far beyond expectations; he makes stakeholder meetings feel welcoming, passionately advocating for the unique needs of each individual. Rob is a former school principal and special needs teacher, and alongside Toni, who boasts an impressive background as a psychologist and educator specialising in special needs such as autism, ADHD, ODD, and trauma, they truly create a powerful partnership that drives remarkable change. Toni, an Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner, brings an invaluable wealth of knowledge and innovative behavior management strategies that profoundly benefit their clients. Their loving family, with 5 vibrant children and 9 cherished grandchildren, proudly embraces the endearing title of “senior” pirates, or as their kids affectionately call them, “mum and dad,” showcasing the warmth and joy that fill their home. Rob passionately contributes as a dedicated Safety/Risk Management Officer, ensuring a safe and secure environment for everyone involved, while Toni thrives in her challenging yet fulfilling role as CEO/Director, boldly steering the organisation toward its mission with vision and creativity.
